  • [XSX/XB1] Fixed a bug after the v1.1.3 release where HDR visuals became muted when the HDR setting was enabled.

  • [XSX/XB1 HDR Known Issue] Disabling the HDR from the in-game options will not completely disable HDR on XSX/XB1 and after automatic reboot.
    If you would like to disable HDR when playing on a HDR monitor, please manually reboot the app or disable HDR on the console settings and restart the app.
  • [PC] On certain PC configurations, a cloud save dialogue window can appear “under” the game when launching, effectively stopping the game from starting. ISSUES ADDRESSED:

  1. [PC] Fixed an issue where closing SteamVR in 2D mode with a VR headset connected would close the app.
  2. [ALL] Fixed a bug in multiplayer where a player’s drop in SR was calculated as 0 when they lost to an opponent with a loss count above a certain value.
    • * Due to this bug, players’ SR in all the different modes is generally higher than we intended; we may adjust SR to account for this sometime in the future.
  3. [ALL] Fixed a bug where your SR in a given mode could be copied to another mode after gaining SR due to your opponent disconnecting.
  4. [ALL] Fixed a bug where some players’ Tier icon would not update to the correct icon.
  5. [XB1/XSX] Fixed an issue where colors in certain environments were oversaturated after HDR was turned off in Options.
  6. [PC] Fixed an issue in VR Mode where some UI elements such as the Zone Meter or Countdown numbers weren’t updating if they were out of sight.
  7. [ALL] Fixed an issue where controllers didn’t vibrate in Multiplayer Local Matches, even if vibration was enabled in Options.
  8. [ALL] Fixed a bug where playing 40 Ranked Matches in CONNECTED VS Mode would not unlock the appropriate avatar.
    • * If you completed this goal at any point, the avatar will unlock after you apply this update.
  9. [ALL] Fixed a bug where the ZONE ATK/MIN stat was being calculated incorrectly in ZONE BATTLE.
    • * Due to this bug we will be resetting the stats of ATTACKS PER MINUTE, ZONE ATTACKS PER MINUTE, and MAX ZONE ATTACK in STATS: MULTIPLAYER in this update.
  10. [ALL] Fixed a bug in CONNECTED and CONNECTED VS. Modes where the Boss’s defensive “comets,” statistics for the results screen, and EXP gains were carried over to the next game after RETRYing.
  11. [ALL] Fixed some unexpected behaviors when certain pairs of blitzes (Twins & Giant, for example) were triggered in succession in CONNECTED or CONNECTED VS Modes.
  12. [ALL] Fixed a visual glitch where lines completed during the Connected Zone sometimes displayed incorrectly in CONNECTED or CONNECTED VS Modes.
  13. [ALL] Fixed a visual glitch that occurred when a player topped out just before the Matrices combined in CONNECTED or CONNECTED VS Modes.
  14. [ALL] Fixed an issue where the incorrect music played when a new SCORE ATTACK or CLASSIC SCORE ATTACK game was started at the same Speed Level as the last game.

 

INITIAL ROTATION, INITIAL HOLD, AND ROTATION SYSTEM FIXES. Note: If you don’t already know what these terms mean, chances are this will not interest you 🙂

  • [ALL] Fixed a bug where the rotation offsets of Z Tetriminos were incorrect.
  • [ALL] Fixed a bug where the game would sometimes unexpectedly end in higher levels of Master Mode or Score Attack when Initial Hold and Initial Rotation was enabled.

 

IMPROVEMENTS IN LOCAL MATCH PLAYER SETTINGS:

  • [ALL] Settings modified in the Option menus are now reflected in the Player Settings menu within Multiplayer (including keyboard settings).

ISSUES ADDRESSED:

  1. [XB1/XSX] Fixed a bug where switching Xbox accounts while the game is paused can cause the save data of the switched-to account to be overwritten by the save data of the switched-from account. (Each profile on one console should have separate save data for the game.)
  2. [ALL] Fixed an issue where Overall SR was not calculated correctly for some players playing CONNECTED. Due to this fix, some players might see a change in their Overall SR when they log in. 
  3. [ALL] Fixed a bug where some player’s Tier icon didn’t match their Overall SR.
  4. [ALL] Fixed TETRIS RATE in the Stats of Classic Score Attack Mode to display as a percentage.
  5. [ALL] Fixed a bug in the THEATER section of Journey Mode where enabling LOOP in certain stages could lead to a softlock. 
  6. [PC]  Fixed a bug where Match Options in a FRIEND MATCH were not selectable with a mouse. 
  7. [ALL] Fixed a graphic glitch in CONNECTED VS. Mode that occured when the Boss cleared a normal line on the same frame as a garbage line of theirs was being cleared.
  8. [ALL] Updated the code so Tetriminos continue to appear in the same order for all players when Next Area is selected in CONNECTED Mode.
  9. [PC] Fixed an issue where the correct amount of particles didn’t appear when GRAPHIC OPTIONS > PARTICLE VOLUME was set to MIN.
  10. [PC] Added a warning message at launch if the save data did not load correctly due to failed cloud sync. 

 

MORE INITIAL ROTATION and INITIAL HOLD IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES: DETAILS (NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST). Note: If you don’t already know what these terms mean, chances are this will not interest you 🙂

  • Fixed an issue where the Tetrimino in the Hold Queue could appear to “revert back” in some cases when an initial hold was triggered on the first check and cancelled on the second check.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would end unexpectedly in some cases (like in Master mode) with initial hold or initial rotation enabled.
  • Fixed an issue in CONNECTED Mode where the orientation of the current Tetrimino would revert back to its original state in some cases when a player with the initial rotation enabled received blitzes.
  • Fixed an issue in CONNECTED Mode where the initial rotation would be triggered for a player with the option enabled when the NO SPIN blitz was active.
  • Fixed an issue in CONNECTED VS where the orientation of the current Tetrimino would revert back to its original state when a person playing as the Boss has the initial rotation enabled and clears a garbage line.

 

COMMON KNOWN ISSUES (not a comprehensive list):

 VR:

  • [PC] If SteamVR is installed on PC, even if the VR device disconnected, SteamVR will launch when you launch the app.
  • [PC] If you launch in 2D mode while you have SteamVR installed and a VIVE headset connected, closing SteamVR will close the app.

We are currently looking into a fix to address these issues. 

 

OTHER:

  • [PC] On certain PC configurations, a cloud save dialogue window can appear “under” the game when launching, effectively stopping the game from starting. If you experience this issue, please go to Start > Right-click on Tetris Effect Connected > More > Run As Administrator, and the cloud save dialog window should appear on top of the game.
  • [PC] Launching the game without syncing your save data with the cloud can cause your game save to be overwritten (syncing can fail when there is a heavy network load). If a cloud sync system message appears when you launch the game, do not proceed until the sync is complete, or, if you see the message “we could not sync your data with the cloud,” please quit the game immediately using Alt-F4, check your network connection, and restart the game to try to successfully sync again. Not doing so will start the game with new (empty) save data which can cause your game save data to be automatically overwritten once the game auto-saves, which it does often.

Tetris Effect: Connected Patch 1.1.0 (12/23/20)

[PC ONLY] VR SUPPORT:

Added VR support for VIVE (SteamVR) and Oculus Rift (Oculus VR) on Win10 PC. (Other SteamVR-supporting Headsets may work but have not been officially tested and cannot be guaranteed to work properly.)

If you have a VIVE or Oculus Rift connected to your PC (or if you have SteamVR installed on your PC) a pop-up will appear at launch:

  • If you select Yes, the game will launch in VR inside the headset.
  • If you select No, the game will boot in 2D*.

*With Oculus Rift, the Oculus VR version of the prompt comes up first, but if you select “No,” the SteamVR prompt will then appear. (In this way Oculus users can choose to boot with SteamVR, but we recommend they play using Oculus VR.)

On default settings, some areas of the multiplayer modes require more CPU / GPU power than the single player modes. If you experience performance issues in any mode in VR, please try lowering the settings in Options > Graphics.

  • The game does support Vive and Oculus VR controllers, but we recommend a standard gamepad for the best gameplay experience. 
  • While we have not disabled Multiplayer Local Match in VR, sharing the screen with someone wearing a headset (where every head movement is reflected on-screen) is not recommended.

ISSUES ADDRESSED:

  1. Fixed a bug in Friend Match where the match settings would reset after returning to the lobby after playing one match.
  2. Fixed an issue where accepting an invite while playing Connected or Connected Vs. Mode could cause a softlock.
  3. Fixed an issue where accepting an invite while your game was paused would not take you to the game’s lobby.
  4. Fixed a bug where some gamertags showed up as “???????” in multiplayer matches.
  5. Fixed a desync issue in multiplayer where some player names would display as “Player1” instead of their gamertag at the start of Ranked and Friend Matches (which occurred due to network lag).
  6. [PC] Fixed an issue in which a required single mouse click was changed to a double-click after being disconnected from a Ranked Match.
  7. [PC] Fixed an issue with mouse controls in the multiplayer lobbies where clicking anywhere on the screen automatically made the player “Ready up.” 

OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

  • [PC] Title screen now displays your gamertag in the lower right corner, to show you’re correctly signed in.
  • [PC] Added a message when the game detects you’re not signed into your Xbox Live profile at launch. Please make sure you’re signed in so game progress is saved.

“You are not signed in to your Xbox Live account. If you wish to save your progress, please restart the app and sign in to your account before you start the game.”

  • [ALL] INITIAL ROTATION / INITIAL HOLD related fixes (see below for details) and other minor technical fixes.

INITIAL ROTATION and INITIAL HOLD IMPROVEMENTS AND FIXES: DETAILS (If you don’t already know what these terms mean, chances are this will not interest you : )

  • Initial rotation and initial hold are now, in most cases, checked when the next Tetrimino appears. The only exception is for the game-over check: If you wish to avoid a game-over by triggering an initial rotation or an initial hold, you must trigger it at the timing of the last Tetrimino’s drop, otherwise they will not be triggered and your game will end.

    Similarly, if spawning the hold Tetrimino will lead to a game-over and you are pressing hold on the last mino drop, initial hold will trigger and the game will end, even if you released the hold button right after the drop. (This behavior is due to the Tetris Effect  implementation of delay between the last Tetrimino’s drop and the next Tetrimino’s appearance.)
  • Our internal implementation checks for initial rotation and initial hold twice each cycle: once when the last Tetrimino drops, and once when the new Tetrimino appears. This patch fixes bugs related to the spawn position calculation on the second check.
  • Spawn position calculation when initial rotation fails is now also fixed.

INITIAL ROTATION AND INITIAL HOLD: KNOWN ISSUES

  1. Fixed an issue with Overall SR not updating correctly sometimes when playing as a guest (e.g. not a host) in Multiplayer Ranked Matches.
  2. Fixed an issue with “Top %” not updating immediately sometimes when playing as a guest in Multiplayer Ranked Matches.
  3. Fixed a bug that boosted Zone Attacks in Zone Battle Mode by behaving as if the player had scored one more Combo than they had.
  4. Fixed a bug that could get players stuck in a repeating loading loop when trying to create a game in Friend Match (triggered by that player being in a lobby or match where the host left and forced them to exit).
  5. Fixed a bug where Zone would not trigger in Connected Mode if all players died just before entering the Zone, and selected “Retry.”
  6. Fixed a bug that could cause a crash after the results screen when playing as a guest (e.g. not a host) in a Friend Match in Area 5 of Connected Mode.

OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

  • Added a 20-second time limit to set the Speed Level in Ranked Matches of Score Attack and Classic Score Attack (a 10-second countdown will begin if the host does not set the Speed Level after 10 seconds).
  • Adjusted behavior when soft-dropping Tetriminos in the Zone of Connected Mode to have them lock down after .5 seconds of touching the stack (in attempts to prevent teammates having to wait for soft-dropping players who don’t realize it’s still their turn).
  • EXP needed until next avatar in multiplayer is now displayed.

  1. [PC] Fixed a bug that prevented WIN markers from updating in Multiplayer Matches when the PARTICLE VOLUME graphic option was set to MIN.
  2. Fixed a bug that caused players’ highest-ever SR to register to some leaderboards, rather than their current SR.
  3. Updated how some players’ Tier is determined (to better deal with limits on the Xbox Live leaderboards): Tiers 2-7 now based on SR alone, while Tiers 8-10 remain based on your SR and place in Rankings.
  4. Updated how players’ % in “Top x%” is determined (to better deal with limits on the Xbox Live leaderboards); also, changed so that only players in the top 10,000 in a given mode will have “Top x%” appear in that mode’s banner.
  5. [PC] Adjusted Metamorphosis to minimize problems with the stage on some PCs when GRAPHIC QUALITY is set to HIGH, EPIC, or CUSTOM.
  6. [ALL] Streamlined code in Score Attack and Classic Score Attack Modes to improve overall performance (especially at Speed Lv transitions).
  7. [XB1, PC] Optimized shadow quality in Score Attack and Classic Score Attack Modes to improve performance.
  8. [PC] Reduced background Tetriminos in Score Attack and Classic Score Attack stage when OPTIONS > GRAPHICS > GRAPHIC QUALITY is set to LOW to improve performance.
  9. [XB1] Optimized visual effects in Connected and Connected Vs. Modes to improve overall performance.
  10. [ALL] Fixed an issue in Friend / Local Matches of Connected Vs. Mode, where the game would not accept inputs from a topped-out team member if players chose “Retry” after the previous game ended with the Boss topping out while a team member was also topped out.
  11. Fixed an issue in Multiplayer where players who earned one Boss’s avatar unlocked a different Boss’s avatar instead; players who unlocked an avatar due to the bug will keep that avatar, but also should have the correct avatar unlocked when they update to 1.0.7.

COMMON KNOWN ISSUES (not a comprehensive list):

  • When playing as a guest (not a host) in Multiplayer Ranked Matches, sometimes the Overall SR display does not update immediately. However, your correct Overall SR is being tracked, and will update if you back out of and re-enter the Multiplayer menu.
  • When playing as a guest (not a host) in Multiplayer Ranked Matches, the Top x% display does not update immediately. The Top %s is only re-assessed correctly the next time the game is closed and restarted.
  • [XSX/S, XB1] After suspending and resuming the game, there can be difficulties sending / accepting invites or joining online sessions. For now, if you encounter this issue, please quit and restart the game.
  • [PC] Switching profiles mid-game does not work.
  • [PC] Alt-Tab causing the game to hang on some PC configurations.

Tetris Effect: Connected Patch 1.0.6 (11/20/20)

NOTE: 1.0.6 players can only play Ranked Match with 1.0.6 players; also, the “Weekend Ritual” event will only appear for 1.0.6 players. PC players please make sure to update your game before playing online. (Friend Match can still match players of different versions but will cause sync issues.)

  1. Fixed a bug causing Score Rating (SR) to sometimes increase or decrease by incorrect amounts.
  2. Added 1500 to all existing players’ SR in all modes (new players will now start at 3500 SR instead of 2000 SR) to better align with how other aspects of the matchmaking system were designed to function. Will continue to monitor and adjust this as needed.
  3. In Ranked Match, adjusted Score Attack and Classic Score Attack Modes to end once there is a winner. Note: Not our ideal solution, since the winning player now can no longer continue to play for a High Score, but a (hopefully) temporary measure while we investigate ways to allow the losing player the option to leave a match. Until then, we have also removed the leaderboards for High Score in both Score Attack modes.
  4. In Zone Battle Mode, adjusted the amounts of Broken Lines sent as a result of higher-level Combos (from [0, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5 from there on] to [0, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4 from there on]) to account for high-level play. Will continue to monitor and adjust this as needed.
  5. In Connected Vs. Mode, adjusted attack values for when skilled and highly-skilled players control the boss (and could be de-facto invincible). Will continue to monitor and adjust this as needed.
  6. In Connected Vs. Mode, increased amount of Line Clears required by the Tetrimidion boss to activate Blitzes.
  7. In Connected Vs. Mode, players with under 2000 SR will be reset to 3500 SR (due to a bug which reset some players SR to 0 in this mode).
  8. Fixed a bug causing soft lock in Mystery Mode in certain situations.
  9. [PC] Fixed a bug causing Classic Score Attack Mode to crash under certain settings.
  10. [XB1] Performance improved in Score Attack and Classic Score Attack modes. Will continue to monitor and adjust this as needed.
  11. [XSX/S, XB1] Voice chat enabled (though default setting is still ‘off’). Working on PC version support. Note: enabling voice chat may increase the likelihood of crashing when entering or exiting multiplayer modes with an unstable network connection. Please disable voice chat if you encounter this problem and we will continue to investigate.
  12. [PC] Fixed an issue with certain controllers / sign-ins causing issues such as appearing offline.

  • [XSX/S, XB1] After suspending and resuming the game, there can be difficulties sending / accepting invites or joining online sessions. For now, if you encounter this issue please quit and restart the game.
  • [PC] Switching profiles mid-game does not work.

  1. Please update your AMD drivers to the latest version and also try installing any latest Windows Updates on your PC.
  2. Reboot your PC.
  3. Relaunch the game.

TROUBLE RUNNING THE GAME ON PC?

First, please check to see if you have the latest Windows Updates and graphics drivers installed on your PC.

Confirm that your PC meets at least the minimum spec (see below).

VR available on the Epic Games Store version only for now. VR update coming to Windows 10 version soon.

To find the dxdiag file:

  • Press the [Windows]+[R] keys on your keyboard to bring up the Run command.
  • In the “Run” command box, type in dxdiag and press Enter. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool pop-up window should appear.
  • When DxDiag opens, check to see if there’s a button that says Run 64-bit DxDiag – if there is click it.
  • Click on “Save all Information.”
  • Save the information to your Desktop, keep the file name as is. (Should be a text file.)

  1. Which mode do I select when playing on Oculus Rift or HTC Vive?
  • When playing the game with Oculus, click on the gear icon on the right of “Launch” and please select Launch in Oculus VR.
  • When playing the game with Vive, click on the gear icon on the right of “Launch” and please select Launch in SteamVR.
  1. If you see Microsoft Visual C Runtime or Direct X error at launch?

Our game requires DirectX June 2010, Visual C++ Redist 2015 to launch. Please install the “vc_redist.x64.exe,” “directx_Jun2010_redist.exe” that are inside the
\TetrisEffect\SharedRuntime.
